Hey all,

I recently ported pcutmp3 to .NET and am going to be creating a UI for it as well as adding many new features which would be beneficial to this site. Please share any ideas you may have in this post!

With regards to your post on the main page frifox...

Quote:
1-click splitting by drag&dropping file either onto UI or the exe itself.

Done and done :)

Quote:
A configurable settings (aka, preferences.conf or registry) for storing various preferences such as: split file naming mask, write ID3v2.3 vs. ID3v2.4 & UTF16 vs. UTF8 tags or no tags at all.

Unicode filename support (latin, russian, japanese, etc characters)

I don't know how much I'll be tinkering with the actual pcutmp3 code (the core guts of it anyway), but I'm sure these features would be possible.

Of course there are more feature requests but those above would do. Of and btw, I can design a very nice UI for the app, as long as you can actually implement it :)

I can probably implement anything you throw at me, so I may take you up on that offer, but I'll let you know once it starts coming together a little.

Damn shame that you moved to C#, as I could have helped with Java.

one more feature that no other cuesplitter has... ability to set global frame shifts.

lemme explain. i prepare my cue's indexes in Adobe Audition and then play it in foobar2000. foobar ALWAYS plays the splits 1 frame too early so i always shift my cue's by +1 frame so it plays as intended in foobar. the problem is when i use Medieval Cue Splitter i end up with splits that are 1 frame too late so i have to go back, edit the cue with global -1 frame shift, split the mp3, and then shift frames by +1 again so i can continue enjoy perfect playback in foobar.

setting a global frame shift in preferences in that splitter you're working on will let me to perfect and simply the splitting process eliminating the need for me to always go through that manual frame-shifting process again and again.

oh, and on technical side - embed include the .NET libraries with the final compile since not everyone has that framework installed on their computers. :ugeek:

Does pcutmp3 play a frame too early for you guys? I'm trying to figure out if it's a bug I creted when converting it or if it's an issue with pcutmp3 itself. I can notice the song change slightly...

edit: It was me breaking things :D Fixed now.

ah, good to hear... btw, I'll go ahead and make some mock UI designs in photoshop. one question tho, how good are you at implementing keygen-style fully skinned fluid-width/height UI's?

i prefer the non-aero theme... the aero theme looks a bit, unbalanced.

was that theme custom baked or was it a part of .NET sdk?

i put it together using custom / 3rd party controls

and I should have specified, the "Aero theme" is just what it looks like if you have aero with transparency enabled in win 7
the other is without the transparency

wow this looks awesome... are you going to make the code public?

i have a couple requests if you're still taking them--could you add the file associations, so that when you double click the .cue file it would automatically open in this program? its really convenient. also, the ability to check + uncheck which tracks you want to be cut from the big mp3. i usually dont select the intros/outros since i've listened to them a million times already. and then also an option to automatically put the output files in the same directory as the cue + mp3, and also to edit the cue data (like artist, song, album title) within the program, since sometimes you notice there's an error when you're splitting it inside the program and dont want to go back to notepad++ lol

this will have support for the major audio formats too right? mp3, flac, mp4? i know medieval cuesplitter doesnt support mp4, so you have to convert within foobar, and its a pain + lossy->lossy

thanks man, it looks really good
