Hi

I think it is a good idea to display the host in the download link, especially if a cue has multiple links.

Examples (I don't have permission to post real urls, but you get the idea)

Download Set (rapidshare.*)
Download Set (myonandshane54.*)

Implementation should be easy too:
Code:
parse_url($url, PHP_URL_HOST);

What do you think?

It's a good idea, but I'm sure most of us just hover over the link to see where it's going. Good call though for the people that don't do that.

Implemented! I cache the most popular site's favicons on our site (converted them to png, but that was redundant), and if it's not cached, it tries to link directly to the site's favicon, which is slowish.

Could improve the script to automatically fetch and cache icons as ico's to our server.

How about using a generic http/https or ftp icon for unknowns?

Also, sometimes if set is too big I split file into parts and use a short text sharing sites like pastie.org to she links as a set. See any of DI.fm Streamrip ASOT500 sets to see what I mean. Sometimes people use de-referrer sites like anonym.to. Maybe we can attach the original source/host site just in case we'd like to manually specify the hoster? something like "specified.domain.com via detected.domain.com", aka "megaupload.com via pastie.org" or "rapidshare.com via anonym.to", would do the job...

Sure, but the script that I found sometimes give out non-existant icons, so it leaves it blank, and I haven't figured out how to notice it.

Done! Ugly generic icons, but...

Changed the link printing a little and grouped links from same host to one row.

that grouped all pastie.org links, which are all technically are completely different. seems like we'll have to either revise the way we store download links or try to hack around with the current implementation.
