I think it's a win-win if we were to use this forum's layout/design as a base for the main cuenation site layout (and redo the logo of course). It's clean, is modern, is easy on the eyes, cross-browser compatible, is lo-fat (95KB total), and is already coded.

I installed tons more nice skins on the site, but this one has caught my eye more than the others.

So... should we?

This is too "ooh, sleek dark deep space" for me.

Let's see what someone comes up with. There is no hurry to change the layout.

Agreed. After playing around with this skin I realized that not everybody would find graphic intensive dark theme appealing for everyday use. Also, after giving it some thought, if we will be supporting skins for the site, we should code the site using generic html and deal with skinning once all php and html is in place.

Yeah, skins will be nice, and therefore I think it won't be worth trying to keep a forum in sync with that.

Let's do a CSS Zen Garden type of HTML for the site.

Those kind of layouts are a bit harder (but more fun) to style since you have to be quite proficient with CSS since CSS will be 100% responsible for the looks. But I think I'm at the level where that won't be a problem. So yeah, I'll go ahead and code everything in plain HTML with minimal CSS and we'll worry about layout and styling after the site is fully functional.

I also think it looks nice. Reminds me of this site (in Finnish): http://plaza.fi/muropaketti/ (if you click the "Vaalea" ("Light") link in the top-right corner of the content div)

Though, I think the BG is too dark. I don't want to stay on that page very long. Depresses me...

The menu looks nice, but the content (red links) is straining on the eyes. Though, I'm red/green color blind. I would have removed the lighting effect on the (top of the) content "panel" and made the links lighter. But I also like gray designs, more than dark metallic blue ones.
